Our Story
For nearly two decades, Skillman Music Recording Studio has served as a trusted production backbone for many of the world’s leading classical labels and cultural institutions, including Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Naxos, Steinway & Sons Records, KNS, Universal Music (China), and the National Centre for the Performing Arts of China, among others.
Through this work, we gained firsthand insight into the highest standards of recording and release—and equally, into how difficult that same process can be for independent artists. We repeatedly saw exceptional musicians struggle to bring their work to market due to unclear workflows, high costs, and a lack of experienced guidance.
This is why we created Skillman Record.
Our mission is to make world-class release standards accessible to individual artists—without compromising artistic integrity, production quality, or financial transparency. We provide clarity, structure, and expert guidance at every stage, helping artists navigate licensing, production, mastering, and distribution with confidence.
Founded in 2006, Skillman Music Recording Studio continues to serve as a flagship production company for the recording industry and major performing arts organizations, including Lincoln Center, Kaufman Music Center, Bard College, and The Juilliard School. This foundation allows us to bridge the gap between elite institutional production and independent artistic release.
