Wei Wang

Wei Wang is a New York–based producer, recording engineer, musician, and music entrepreneur. Trained as a classical musician, Wei’s path gradually expanded beyond performance into the world of recording, production, technology, and music business — a direction that has shaped much of his career.

Wei founded Skillman Music with the goal of building a production environment where musical sensitivity and technical precision could work together at the highest level. What began as a recording-focused studio has grown into a broader creative platform for classical recording, concert filming, broadcast production, post-production, and commercial release preparation.

At the center of Wei’s work is a deep understanding of both the artist’s perspective and the production process. Having spent years as a musician himself, he approaches every project with an instinct for phrasing, sound, balance, timing, and emotional intention. At the same time, his work as a producer and engineer is driven by detail, structure, technology, and long-term planning.

Over the years, Wei has worked across a wide range of classical music projects, from studio albums and live concert recordings to performance films, institutional media productions, and artist-release campaigns. His work has connected him with leading artists, labels, schools, and cultural institutions, including Decca, Naxos, Steinway & Sons, Lincoln Center, American Ballet Theatre, Young Concert Artists, The Juilliard School, CCTV, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts China.

With the launch of Skillman Records, Wei is now extending his production work into artist catalog development and commercial releases. As lead producer of the label, he is focused on creating a more connected model for classical artists — one that brings recording, visual media, release planning, distribution, licensing, promotional assets, and long-term catalog management into a single production-led vision.

Wei’s work is guided by a simple belief: a great classical recording should not end at the recording session. It should be carefully produced, beautifully presented, professionally released, and given the structure to reach audiences over time. Through his work as a producer, engineer, and entrepreneur, Wei continues to build bridges between classical artistry, modern production technology, and the evolving music industry.

Wei holds both Bachelor and Master degrees from The Juilliard School.
